Fishing
The surroundings are a fisherman's paradise - there are numerous lakes and reservoirs in close proximity of the hotel where some of the country's best Brown and Rainbow Trout fishing is available. Salmon and Sea Trout fishing is also available on the River North Tyne and River Rede.

Walking
The Pennine Way passes the front door of the hotel, and ther are numerous walks across open country and the little explored Kielder Forest.

Heritage
Hadrian's Wall, many Roman forts, museums, country houses and grounds - not to mention more castles than any other county, among them Alnwick, Bamborough and Warkworth.
